Itten's Ideas in Everday Life

When I first arranged this piece, I had no idea how far it would be taken. My two elements were grass and tetris pieces... it seemed like a terrible idea to combine for a painting. As soon as I started playing with the composition, I saw an oriental theme. The tetris blocks looked like oriental characters against the splashes of grass.

I used fast brush strokes as a way of communicating movement throughout the piece, and letting the grass blend in together in various positions to enhance that thought as well.

This is some process work, manipulating the pattern to fold around furniture

The piece grew from rudimentary drawings, to acrylic paintings, to furniture and wallpaper. It was incredible to see what electronics can add to artwork.
